The first super over of the season won by Delhi Capitals despite a super knock from Kane Williamson. Kane played an excellent innings to tie the match. Delhi Capitals with eight points from five matches are sitting comfortably in the second spot in the points table. SRH lost again after winning their last match and placed at 7th position in the points table.

SRH VS DC Good Partnerships by DC: After deciding to bat first, Delhi Capital had a good opening partnership of 81 runs in ten overs. Prithvi Shaw being the aggressor played freely and did the bulk of the scoring. It was a disappointing end to Prithvi’s magnificent inning as he ran out by Khaleel Ahmed. He scores quickfire 53 off 39 balls with seven boundaries and one six. Shikhar Dhawan played a patient inning of 28 runs off 26 balls. Before he could capitalize on his start, Rashid Khan bowled him out. The pitch was getting slow, Rishabh Pant and Steve Smith took the control and played for a 58 run partnership to make sure Delhi Capital post a decent total on board.

SRH VS DC – SRH Bowling: In absence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, SRH bowling looked a bit weak. The bowling failed to pick up wickets and allowed Delhi Capital to build partnerships and post a par total on a slow Chennai pitch. The bowler could have done better considering the condition. Siddarth Kaul was the pick of the bowler with two wickets in his four overs. Rashid Khan picked one wicket.

SRH VS DC – One-man show for SRH: Chasing a tricky total of 159, Jonny Bairstow gave a flying start to SRH but at the other end David Warner got ran out by Kagiso Rabada at a score of 28. Kane Williamson playing his first match took the responsibility and played patiently to take the innings deep. But he was short of partners as wickets fell at regular intervals. At 136/7 in 18.3 overs, it was looking tough for SRH to cross the line. Jagadeesha Suchith played a blinder and surprised all. He scored two fours off his first two balls. With 15 required off last over and Kane Williamson in the strike played a lap shot to boundary. Rabada bowled a slower ball, Kane missed it but took a run as Pant missed the stumps. The third ball, with Suchith in the strike, hit the ball long to cross the boundary for a six off long-on. With four runs required from three balls, SRH would only manage to get three runs and tied the match.

SRH VS DC – Good Bowling from DC: Delhi Capitals bowlers did an excellent job to restrict the SRH. Avesh Khan was the pick of the bowler with three wickets off his 4 overs, Axar Patel playing his first match after recovering from Covid bowled well to pick 2 wickets in four overs and conceding only 26 runs. The star of the last match – Amit Mishra picked up one wicket.

SRH VS DC – The Super Over: This is the first super over of the season. A fighting performance by Kane Williamson helped SRH to tie the match from a tough position. SRH to bat first in the powerplay made a blunder mistake by not sending the power player Jonny Bairstow to bat. David Warner and Kane Williamson went to bat failed to put a good score in the super over for DC to chase. Warner looked out of touch and missed the first ball and score only two runs from three bowls. It was Kane Williamson boundary that helped SRH to score seven runs.

SRH VS DC – The Super Over DC Win: Delhi Capitals chasing seven runs started off with two singles from the first two balls. Then Rishabh Pant scored a boundary playing a reverse lap shot off Rashid Khan. With one required of one ball, Shikhar Dhawan miscued a shot but took the run to win the match.

CONCLUSION

A super entertaining match today. SRH with a loss has only two points and is at the seventh position. The team has not performed as a unit and lacks in the finisher who can finish the game for them. Delhi Capital on other hand has done pretty well winning four out of their five matches.
